Lil' Bowl of Heaven

This bowl may not look like much to you, but to me, it's heavenly...it's homemade almond butter! Who knew almond butter was so incredibly easy to make?! Ever since Little Love was born, I switched from peanut (which I love) to almond butter (which I found I love more)...and darn it, it's one of those organic bulk items that is expensive. SO we decided to make our own in hopes that it would be more cost effective, and it is yummy my friends (and yes, a bit cheaper)!

Got some raw almonds (on sale:) at Whole Foods this last weekend and was able to find the time to make some today. Yippee skippee!! This was the first of two batches because I thought - hey, the food processor is already dirty, so I might as well make some more :)! I got the recipe (er, directions) here and did (2) cups of raw almonds - didn't have to add any oil to mine as it was the perfect yummy consistency all on its own.

It is quite loud when you first start it out in the processor so I wouldn't suggest attempting it while you have a sleeping baby or child...or spouse :). I can't wait to try some other nut butters now...pecan, cashew, and maybe even...walnuts? I feel confident they could not overtake my love for the heavenly almond butter though, but I'll keep you posted...

I'm telling you. I have to clear a bit of my schedule after every post you make b/c I'm always wanting to try what you've posted about. Thank you. I used to buy Valencia raw Peanut butter but I've discovered I also like almond butter better. Your right though. Very costly.
